Knights Notes

Patrick Kahle broke the Knights' single-game passing record in the opener, throwing for 319 yards against Corry...Kahle erased Bill McCullough's record of 282 yards passing against Kane in 1955...Two of his three TD passes went to tight end Nate Byham, who caught six passes for 159 yards, which ranks No. 2 on Franklin's all-time list, matching Andy Adams' total against Warren in 1980...The Knights scored on their first possession of the game on a 4-yard run by Alex Wested...

General McLane scored 29 points in the third quarter to overcome a 7-6 halftime deficit...The Knights took a 7-0 lead in the second quarter on a 30-yard pass from Kahle to Byham...The Lancers then scored 42 unanswered points from late in the first half until early in the fourth quarter...Kahle threw two more TD passes, the other going to Joe Uhler for 72 yards...

touchdowns....Playing in a driving rainstorm -- the remnants of Hurricane Ivan -- the teams combined for 11 turnovers, but only the Ramblers could take advantage...

Kahle passed for three more touchdowns as the Knights spoiled Titusville's homecoming...Uhler caught a 50-yard TD, and Byham and Bill Klinger each had a 5-yard scoring catch as the Knights bolted to an 18-0 halftime lead...The Knights kept it on the ground after intermission and junior Sean Saunders emerged with 100 yards rushing on 15 carries -- Franklin's first 100-yard rusher on the season...Saunders also had 2.5 of the Knights' eight sacks and 33.5 defensive points...Byham had three sacks...

Four of Franklin's five touchdowns against Warren came on the ground, two by Wested, who rushed for a season-high 51 yards on 11 tries...Saunders again led the way with 111 yards on 20 carries, and a 5-yard TD...Kahle scored a TD and passed to Byham for another...

Kahle scored both touchdowns and the PAT against Oil City and broke Rich Cerro's single season passing record...His game-winning PAT run in the fourth quarter came afater the Oilers were flagged for a rarely called roughing the passer penalty...Kahle hit on 13 of 17 passes for 137 yards, brining his season total to 1,429 yards...Cerro threw for 1,425 yards in 2001...Byham set a school record with 50 defensive points, and Jake Hasson had two sacks the final time the Oilers had the ball...

Kahle threw for a school-record six touchdowns -- all in the first half -- against East...Three of them went to Joe Uhler, who tied a school record with his catches covering 14, 11 and 36 yards...The Knights led 41-0 at the half...Byham broke Mark Kennedy's single-season receiving yardage record...Byham brought his total to 676 yards while Kennedy had 645 in 1987...Mark Carson (1985) and Cerro (2002) had the old school record with four touchdown passes in a game...Kahle's record-throwing night gave him 16 scoring passes for the season, breaking the record of 13 set by Cerro in 2001...

over the Knights...The Knights led twice, 6-0 and 12-6, on Kahle passes to Byham covering 21 and 60 yards in the first quarter...That gave him eight on the season, matching the school record Bob Cardy set in 1946...But Byham would be sidelined the second half with a concussion and a rib injury...Meanwhile, Mario Henry and Brandon McLaurin scored three TDs apiece for the Colonels...McLaurin finished with 268 yards rushing on 16 carries...Vincent would eventually reached the western Pennsylvania finals before losing to eventual state champion Thomas Jefferson...

Nursing a 7-0 lead, General McLane exploded for 21 points in the last 8:28 of the game to end the Knights' season in the first round of the District 10 playoffs...Kahle's 53-yard pass to Byham late in the game accounted for the Knights' only score...The TD catch was Byham's school-record ninth of the season...Kahle finished with single-season records for passing (2,082 yards) and total offense (2,328)...

Kahle completed 140 of 269 passes and threw for 19 touchdowns....He also had 81 tackles and 213 points on defense...

Byham finished with 45 catches for 883 yards...Defensively, he led the Knights with 299.5 points, including 91 tackles, nine sacks and three interceptions...

Saunders was the leading rusher with 461 yards on 107 carries and seven TDs...Saunders had 60 tackles and 155.5 points on defense...

Uhler was the No. 2 receiver with 29 catches for 459 yards; he also had six INTs...Hasson caught 33 passes for 396 yards, and Klinger added 23 receptions for 263 and also kicked 16 extra points...

Hasson totaled 186.5 defensive points and 68 tackles, Eakin had 166.5 points and 83 tackles and Andrew Riddle had 112.5 points and 43 tackles...
