Knights Notes

The Knights helped two teams end long losing streaks, but in between time won the TCAC title, their first championship since 1972...Hickory ended a 19-game losing streak with its victory over the Knights in the season opener...Jeff Osborne's 22-yard field goal with 1:07 left pulled the game out for the Hornets...

And after beating Meadville to wrap up the TCAC crown, the Knights bowed to Bradford, which ended a four-year losing streak at home. (Earlier in the season, the Owls beat Oil City, 8-7, to snap a 26-game losing streak)...Bradford entered the Franklin game with a 1-7 record...The defeat ended a six-game winning streak for the Knights, who began the season 0-2...

Jim Janidlo had two of the Knights' four interceptions against Reynolds...Dave Garich made two sacks against Reynolds and Titusville...Chuck Harrison's 37-yard fumble return and Randy Lynch's kick accounted for the only scoring in the Sharpsville game...

The only 100-yard rushing games were by Tom O'Toole, who ran for 103 against Titusville, and Mike Rupp, who gained 108 against Meadville...Ken Rhodes returned an interception 69 yards for a TD against Titusville...

A 21-yard pass from Janidlo to Ben Twombly set up the Knights' first TD against Warren -- a 15-yard pass from Janidlo to Garich...The second TD came after Bill Secules deflected a pitch-out and Rupp recovered at the 3...

The Knights beat Meadville on Janidlo's 6-yard TD with 1:14 to play...Rupp's 68-yard burst plus a 10-yard penalty for spearing set up the winning TD...Rupp had two interceptions  in the game...

The Knights threw only two TD passes on the season, the other being a 54-yarder from Janidlo to Rhodes against Grove City...Lynch kicked two field goals on the season, a 29-yarder against Oil City and a 22-yarder against Titusville...Rupp led the Knights with six TDs, including three against Grove City...O'Toole added four...
