Knights Notes

The Knights clinched their second straight Northwest Conference and Section 2 titles with the win over Warren, and the next week wrapped up their second straight unbeaten, untied season...Brad Crawshaw's 58-yard touchdown run in the opening quarter was the difference against the Dragons...Crawshaw benefitted from blocks by Mike Wagner, Mick Harris, Bob Woods and Corby Allen after taking the option pitch from QB Steve Eakin...Warren was on its 45 in the last minute and Gary Blair made a key tackle and batted down two passes as time ran out...Earlier, the Dragons were on the Franklin 33 when Woods sacked QB Jeff Mead for a nine-yard loss on fourth down...

The Knights enjoyed 27-point third quarters against Meadville and Grove City...They needed it against Grove city because they were trailing the Eagles 15-13 at halftime...Crawshaw (190 yards) and Otis Law (112) each rushed for more than 100 yards against Grove City...The two also posted back-to-back three-touchdown games against Meadville and Grove City...Law had two 85-yard punt return for TDs against the bulldogs...

Eakin tossed two scoring passes to Dave Hasson, covering 30 and 31 yards, in the second quarter against Oil City...Buzzy Scott made two interceptions in that game...

Crawshaw rushed for a school-record 1,021 yards and Law added 851...Each scored 14 touchdowns...Harris scored 51 points on four TDs, 24 extra points and a field goal...Harris also rushed for 341 yards...Eakin ran for 253 and completed 30 of 64 passes for 439 yards...Hasson was the leading receiver with 13 catches for 222 yards...

The defense allowed opponents 2.8 yards per running play...Opponents averaged 45 plays per game, getting 3.1 yards per play...The defense totaled 17 interceptions -- seven by Law and three by Scott -- and recovered 15 fumbles...Dave Baughman led in total tackles with 88, including 75 assists...Mike Wagner had 71 and Harris added 68...Jim McNamara had 70 assists...Scott led in solo tackles with 22...

Dave Stewart was named Northwest Conference Coach of the Year...
