QB/RB Bob Witherup scored 13 touchdowns, passed for four more scores and kicked eight extra points on the season...Included was a four-TD outburst against Meadville...Witherup also scored two TDs and passed for two others against Titusville...He scored three TDs against Oil City...
Frank Trinch's 60-yard interception return for a TD on a
pass tipped by DE John Barthen put the exclamation point on the victory over Reynolds...Larry Turner returned his second interception of the game 33 yards to the 12 to set up Witherup's 1-yard TD with 4:49 to play for the win over Warren...Turner also knocked down an Eddie O'Neil pitch on a fourth-and-nine after the Dragons drove to the Franklin 20...On Warren's next series Barthen recovered a fumble in mid-air...The Knights scored a safety when Mike Bowen and Trinch tackled Corky Reynolds in the end zone...
Barthen recovered a fumble for the third straight game against Meadville, which lost four fumbles in all...Turner scored the Knights' only TD against Corry on a 35-yard return of a blocked punt...The Knights led the Beavers 7-6 before Dan Taylor's second TD, on a 15-yard run, put Corry ahead to stay with 9:45 left...Grove City was 5-0-1 after its win over the Knights...
Mike Lowrie scored on an 81-yard punt return and a 23-yard run and threw a 4-yard TD pass to Witherup against Strong Vincent...Lowrie threw for two TDs on the season...Turner was second in scoring with five TDs, and Ramos Moodie added four...
