The Nursery -- aka the Wolfe Pack -- played their first home night game ever Sept. 5 against Girard...Former FHS assistant Bob Moore, now the Clarion High varsity coach, attends every game, The News-Herald reported...

While about 2,200 fans came out for the debut of night football at Franklin, the second home game attracted even more people....About 3,000 were on hand for the Warren game Ted Marchibroda passed for 272 yards and two TDs and scored another touchdown ...George Harris alternated between tackle and end and caught at least three passes...John Coefield caught a 63-yard TD pass and set up another touchdown with a 73-yard reception...Marchibroda also punted five times for a 31-yard average...

Grove City intercepted five passes, including four in the fourth quarter, and then a flu-ridden Nursery was blown out by Meadville before a record 3,447 fans at Miller-Sibley...A number of regulars were unable to play for any length of time, and Harris and T Ed Bowen left the game with injuries...Several players were near collapse at the end of the game and one was hospitalized after he became unconscious...

Marchibroda had a 47-yard TD called back in the third quarter that would have tied the game with Greenville...The Nursery's win over Punxsy (4-1-1) was considered a mild upset...Marchibroda threw two TD passes to Coefield covering 16 and 25 yards...

A 14-yard pass from Marchibroda to Jack Cardy broke a 7-7 halftime tie with Titusville...The Nursery extended its lead after Bowen blocked a punt and Wayman Smith scored on a 5-yard lateral after Cardy grabbed a 26-yard pass...

Fumble recoveries by Roy Perry and Bowen and a blocked punt by Tom Beith that was recovered by Dom Pacilli set up the three TDs against Oil City...Marchibroda threw TD passes to Cardy (12 yards) and Coefield (18) and Coefield scored on a 3-yard run...Harris kicked all three extra points...Perry also had an interception against the Oilers...

Coefield scored eight TDs, five on passes from Marchibroda...Marchibroda scored four TDs and passed for eight...Harris kicked six extra points...
